In the heart of Turin, this renovation project was driven by a clear vision: to reveal and enhance the original brick cross-vault ceiling of the large main living area. Around this architectural feature, the entire design unfolds in a continuous dialogue between light, materials, and geometry.
The entrance opens directly onto the living area, which is separated from the kitchen by a large glazed partition that gracefully follows the curve of the vaulted ceiling, culminating in a four-leaf door. This solution maintains visual continuity between the spaces and highlights the ceiling structure, making it the focal point in both rooms.
In the kitchen, the original door frames have been restored and reinterpreted: they now frame functional elements such as the extractor hood or serve as backdrops for handcrafted wall finishes, creating a refined balance between the old and the new.
The new spatial layout was designed to maximize natural light and emphasize every architectural detail. From the living area, one can access the sleeping quarters and the bathroom, which features warm, neutral-toned ceramic finishes. A utility room, used as a laundry and ironing space, completes the layout, while the existing loft spaces in the bedrooms have been recovered and integrated into the design. The herringbone wood flooring creates a sophisticated contrast with the brick ceiling, while the light-colored walls amplify its visual impact, enhancing the interplay between texture, light, and function.
