Primary school

A civic landmark: a circle embracing the community, a garden cultivating the future.

The project envisions a new elementary school designed as an open, circular building that fosters inclusion, learning, and community life. Connected to the existing middle school through a public square, it creates an integrated educational campus at the heart of the city.
The ground floor hosts shared spaces—atrium, library, cafeteria, labs, gym—that remain accessible to the community beyond school hours. The first floor is dedicated to classrooms, arranged around a green inner courtyard and complemented by outdoor learning gardens. A stepped “agorà” connects the two levels, doubling as auditorium and civic gathering space.
The building is conceived as a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB): built in laminated timber, with natural insulation, green roof, photovoltaic panels, and rainwater reuse systems. Smart technologies optimize energy and comfort.
Externally, the project reorganizes surrounding streets to favor pedestrian and cycling mobility, creating new public spaces and safe school access. The school is not fenced off: its sports fields, gardens, auditorium, and plaza are shared with the wider community.
